Social Element is a global social media agency connecting brands and people socially. Our core purpose is to make better social for brands and social better for society.
About You
You are a Senior Art Director with strong ideation skills, responsible for shipping exceptional social-first creative content and campaigns for our clients.
With at least 8 years experience in the advertising, marketing or communications industry, you are a hands-on, visually-focused creative who brings strong strategic thinking into ideation. You have your finger on the pulse of culture, social-first and people-first ideas that create unmissable, impactful social moments for audiences: both online and IRL.
You plan, ideate, create and execute exceptional ongoing social content for our clients, as well as ideate big, creative territories and fame-driving, impactful campaign ideas. These can range from organic to paid, proactive to reactive. From big category-defining ideas to smaller community-driven moments, you are comfortable flexing your creative and art directional skills to bring best-in-class social-first ideas to life.
As part of the global Creative & Innovation team at Social Element, you are guided by the Global Creative & Innovation Director, collaborating with other creatives, strategists, influencer teams, client service teams, and project managers to ship social-first ideas that tie into our clients' business needs. You also help shape our output as a Social Element brand and build our movement to Make Social Better.
Art direction, craft, and attention to detail are important to you, but you can equally dial up or down high-level craft or low-fi designs, small screens or large screens depending on the client and campaign. You think outside the box when it comes to concepting, creating, and delivering socially-native content and campaigns for a variety of clients and driving engagement with a brand’s community.
We might work in social media, but our purpose is to help brands socialize, which includes activations both URL and IRL. This means also working across concept, art direction, and design for new and existing brand campaigns and being able to use a brand's guidelines and agency strategy input to ideate and deliver 360/full social-first campaigns.
Your proactive nature means that you have a lot to bring to the table and are always looking for ways to introduce new concepts and ideas - including self-initiated projects and new lines of business.
You will co-report into the Creative & Innovation Director and the VP Of Project Management and work cross-functionally alongside social creatives, project managers, content creators, account directors, and social media managers.
Role and responsibilities include:
Day-to-day conception and creation of on-trend and highly shareable social content and ideas that drive engagement and connection with the brand's community, including stills, videos, and GIFs, preferably with experience in motion/animation.
Work with our global creative team to build Social Brand Guidelines for our clients using their existing brand guidelines and translating them into social-first guidance for our content creation team and the clients' teams - while always looking to improve a brand’s social-first approach in a visual capacity.
Capitalizing on real-time cultural opportunities from our social media management teams by turning them into social-first content for named brands.
Supporting your creative recommendations through strong presentation and communication skills.
Maintaining social fluency - understanding social trends and nuances as they emerge and being always ‘switched on’ to new design and creative ideas for the brands we have at the agency.
Stay current with social platforms trends capabilities and offerings (including TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, Facebook).
Save all final content assets onto the Social Element server for easy access for anyone within the agency.
When needed, manage the creation of case study decks and videos, with the support of motion/animation experts/freelancers.
Ensure that DE&I is baked into everything we do and champion this within creativity in the agency and also within the agency's creative output.
Working collaboratively with strategy, PM, creatives & SMM to concept content for brands, while also being the visual lead on look & feel, and design.
About you
You are able to ideate, strategize, design, create content, and visually support and lead the teams from conception to completion - stepping in to wear multiple hats:
Lead and manage the visual direction of projects, from concept through to completion, ensuring alignment with brand and project goals.
Ideate and strategize creative concepts that resonate with target audiences, blending innovation with practical execution.
Design and create high-quality visual assets for various media ensuring consistency across all channels.
You are comfortable in Adobe Creative Cloud and understand the ins and outs of creative tools to enhance creative outputs including still images, GIFs, graphics, and content creation.
An ideas person, able to look at the big picture, but also see the small details and always be solution-oriented.
Can work with some levels of ambiguity, while always having your own solutions and ideas to overcome missing information & issues.
A thorough understanding of the evolving social media landscape, with a continuous thirst to learn more.
A joyful collaborator and solution-oriented person with a positive & forward-thinking outlook.
Ability to set clear objectives, timelines, and deadlines for your own work, while also knowing how to be a balanced project lead and know when it’s appropriate to push deadlines to avoid the work suffering.
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite applications.
Preferred skills in Canva, Capcut, and other mobile editing tools when needed.
Optional skills in AI image generation (Firefly), and strong content creation abilities in the form of low-fi (UGC style/staged reality) and high-quality product photography.
A strong drive and dedication to contribute to our clients' brand, the agency, and the work, as if they were your own company.
Bring vast experience of international markets with experience working with brands across North America.
