Job Summary
Children’s Capital of Culture are seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and organised Creative Producer. Our Creative Producer will have a key role in ensuring the delivery of a high-quality and imaginative events and festivals offer for the Children’s Capital of Culture Festival Year.
Job Description
In 2025 Rotherham is the world’s first Children’s Capital of Culture, designed and delivered by children and young people aged 0-to-25. 2025 is a year-long celebration of creativity, culture and community, taking place across all 25 of Rotherham’s wards.
The Children’s Capital of Culture team are working with hundreds of artists and organisations across Rotherham, South Yorkshire, and further afield to deliver a vibrant and innovative Festival Year programme for everyone to enjoy. Underpinning this creative programme is a core focus on building children and young people’s skills, confidence, aspirations, wellbeing, and sense of civic pride and community connection.
Youth voice is at the heart of Children’s Capital of Culture, and all our creative programme is co-produced with children and young people from Rotherham. It’s also informed by ongoing community engagement initiatives, creative consultation work, and action research.
Children’s Capital of Culture are now seeking to appoint an experienced, enthusiastic and organised Creative Producer, who will join our creative and committed staff team.
As our Creative Producer, you will have a key role in ensuring the delivery of a high-quality and imaginative events and festivals offer for the Children’s Capital of Culture Festival Year. You will help manage the safe and successful delivery of large-scale creative events and festivals, as well as supporting smaller community event organisers.
If you have significant experience of delivering large-scale creative, cultural or community events and festivals, are a brilliant project manager with excellent organisational skills, and are excited about joining a passionate staff team who are committed to making amazing things happen across Rotherham, then we would love to hear from you.
Job Requirements
Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet essential criteria listed in the job description. A shortened version of these criteria is as follows:
- Significant knowledge and experience of successfully delivering large-scale events and festivals
- Knowledge and experience of supporting community-led events
- Proven experience of managing staff, freelancers and volunteers
- Knowledge and experience of working effectively with a wide range of partners
- Knowledge and experience of developing and working with a diverse range of audiences
- Knowledge and experience of current safeguarding requirements, as well as data protection, health and safety, and other relevant requirements
- Experience of managing budgets and helping develop successful funding bids
- Experience of contributing to evaluation reports
Job Responsibilities
Our Creative Producer will:
- Work with partners to devise and deliver large-scale events, such as: UPLIFT Festival; Plug In & Play; and WOW Rotherham.
- Work with partners to enhance and add capacity to existing events and festivals, including Rotherham Show, Ferham Festival, and other community events.
- Work with partners to coordinate exhibition and public art programmes across gallery settings and outdoor spaces.
- Deliver dynamic programmes of pop-up creative performances in unexpected locations across our borough.
Their main responsibilities will include:
- Managing the planning and production of large-scale events and festivals, supporting community event organisers, and overall delivering a high-quality, imaginative events and festivals offer.
- Commissioning and supporting artists, facilitators and volunteers
- Developing and implementing audience development plans to support programme delivery
- Monitoring and analysing audience data to identify areas of low engagement
