Who We Are
The Undergraduate Education (UDED) Events and Communications team supports over 25 departments that live outside of the traditional academic departmental structure and reports to the Office of the Associate Dean for LSA Undergraduate Education.
The Creative Designer will support the development and coordination of print and digital marketing materials for a variety of our events and programs. Additionally, you will also assist with web editing, event planning, and administrative needs. The Creative Designer, reports to the Event Operations and Communications Manager and contributes as a member of our energized team that values collaboration, creativity, and having fun!
Responsibilities*
Graphic Design/Marketing (70%)
Design brochures, programs, social media graphics, and other custom materials with unit-provided content
Collaborate with colleagues, prepare rough drafts, present designs, and make edits to produce final materials
Review final graphics and layouts to ensure LSA/U-M branding guidelines are represented quality is consistent
Work with local vendors to get quotes and coordinate professional printing of marketing materials
Design email header/footer graphics and create templates for email marketing tools (MailChimp)
Collaborate with campus partners on marketing distribution
Web Editing (10%)
Update departmental websites with unit-provided content
Event Planning (10%)
Work with event planning colleges to plan multiple fun and engaging student events; order supplies, book vendors, and plan day-of logistics
Financial/Administrative (10%)
Coordinate related financial activities with the appropriate office; submitting hosting documentation and reimbursement requests
Provide additional administrative support
Required Qualifications*
Two to four years of relevant experience including graphic design and marketing, event planning, and administrative support
Experience with Adobe Illustrator and InDesign programs, editing websites, and email marketing systems
Ability to manage multiple graphic design projects simultaneously
Work with our diverse group of faculty, staff, and students, providing outstanding customer service
Work Schedule
On-Site Event Support - We ask that you be on-site for prepping and facilitating events, including some nights and weekends.
This includes moving up to 35 pounds, transporting carts, traveling around campus, remaining in a stationary position for long periods, and working face-to-face with 1,000 plus U-M community members.
Hybrid - A hybrid work schedule (some days on campus and some days working remotely) is available for this position. However, this is subject to change based on the responsibilities of the position and the needs of the department.
Additional Information
This position is term-limited and through December 2025, with the possibility of an extension.
