Psychoeducational Specialist (Music Therapist)

Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia

Full time, Days (32 hours/week, Three days a week and one weekend day, 9AM - 5:30PM)

Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC) highly preferred!

Job Summary

The Psychoeducation Specialist provides direct patient care under the supervision of a designated healthcare professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, and within policies, procedures, and guidelines of Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH).

Essential Functions

• Facilitates individual and/or support groups (within Psychoeducation scope) and may participate in family meetings and treatment team meetings.
• Provides community resource knowledge and handles coordination of related activities.
• May provide 1:1 patient safety companion service as needed, and patient checks as assigned.
• Care planning and discharge planning in collaboration with Social Worker team.
• Participates in continued education and in-service training.

Education

• Bachelors degree in Occupational Therapy, Recreational Therapy, or Expressive Therapy (Music, Dance/Movement), Counseling, or Human Services (required)
  
  

Licensing & Certifications

• Must be licensed, certified, or registered as appropriate by state and national licensing boards in one of the following: (required)
• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)
• Registered Art Therapist (ATR)
• Provisional Registered Art Therapist (ATR-P)
• Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC)
• Music Therapist-Board Certified (MT-BC)
• Registered Dance/Movement Therapist (R-DMT)
• Occupational Therapist Licensed (OTR/L)
  
  

Experience

• 1 year of experience in social services or human services setting (required)
