ABOUT THE ROLE
The Fast Company Design Fellowship is a one-year internship designed to give recent college graduates or master’s degree recipients exposure to all aspects of design across all channels of Fast Company.
The goals of the Fast Company Design Fellowship are to develop the following skills:
- Branding and editorial design
- Design across multiple platforms
- Consistency in design systems
- Design for a specific audience
- Visual storytelling through photography, illustration, and infographics
- Collaboration across different departments
- Brainstorming methods that are both wild and pragmatic
This role requires a weekly in-office presence on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with a total of 35 hours per week. Hourly rate: $23.

The ideal candidate has a strong portfolio which demonstrates a range of great graphic design work from print to digital. Applicants should have a strong interest in editorial and branding, a keen eye for typography, and the curiosity to learn.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
We believe that designers learn by doing. The design fellowship role is a key contributor to the design team, assisting the Art Director and Associate Art Director in larger projects. Objectives will be achieved through the following tasks:
- Designing sidebars and department pages for the magazine
- Creating icons based on existing systems
- Rebuilding magazine design assets for online and social
- Designing assets for events, podcasts, and other branding projects
- Creating and maintaining of style guides to ensure consistency across platforms
- Maintaining and refreshing social media design templates
- Brainstorming concepts for illustration and design
After a year in the design fellowship program, an individual will have a strong grasp of their own personal style as a graphic designer, and how to apply that in a professional environment.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
