The Development and Communications Manager is a key member of the Development team and works collaboratively across departments on initiatives that raise public awareness of Wildflyer Coffee’s mission and secures financial contributions to help end youth homelessness. The Development and Communications Manager is frequently a first point of contact for our donors, community members and volunteers - and the ability to interact professionally with a variety of people and communities is critical. This position works in all areas of development including grant writing, events, donor stewardship, and researching new funding opportunities, as well as all areas of communications with our audience- including, but not limited to, donors.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Represent and promote Wildflyer Coffee with various groups, including presentations and tabling at community events.
Create and manage events for donors and volunteers including open houses and recognition events.
Produce timely and accurate reports and communications, including donor reports, thank you notes, newsletters, and other opportunities that keep donors engaged and informed
Research and identify prospective new sources of funding and proactively initiate relationships,
Write grant proposals and reports.
Promote events and programs on social media, websites and in communications.
Provide administrative support, as needed
Administrative & Database Management
Maintain accurate donor records in Little Green Light (LGL), including timely gift entry and acknowledgment.
Pull reports and donor insights as needed to support strategy and planning.
Assist the Executive Director with scheduling and donor meeting logistics.
Communications Develop and implement Wildflyer’s communications strategy
Create email newsletters and appeals to increase individual donations
Manage social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn)
Develop and implement new methods of engaging potential new donors
Develop and execute successful digital fundraising campaigns
Identify new opportunities to grow Wildflyer’s visibility and donor base through storytelling and community outreach.
Individual Fundraising Assist in building an annual fundraising strategy that creates a sustainable pipeline of funding for Wildflyer Coffee
Assist in all stages of the donor cycle - identifying acquisition opportunities, developing authentic relationships and cultivation strategies, crafting compelling solicitations, and providing meaningful stewardship.
Support the Development team in the planning and execution of annual fundraising events such as Brewing Brighter Futures or Community Coffee Hours
Build strong relationships in the community and strengthen Wildflyer Coffee’s brand through in-person presentations with funders and at community events (e.g., Rotary Clubs, conferences, tabling).
Grant Writing and Management Manage Wildflyer Coffee’s institutional fundraising strategy; including prospecting for new opportunities
Craft compelling, data-driven narratives and grant proposals that secure funding
Assist in developing relationships with program officers and other institutional representatives to identify values and programs with funding opportunities
Manage institutional reporting such as grant reports and other relevant paperwork
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in development, nonprofit communications, or related roles preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build relationships with diverse individuals.
Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects.
Self-starter with initiative and a collaborative spirit.
Experience with donor databases (LGL or similar) and Google Workspace a plus.
Experience with graphic design strongly preferred but not required
Passion for Wildflyer’s mission and a belief in the power of employment to create change.
Additional Information:
Occasional evening and weekend availability required for events.
Hybrid schedule available following successful onboarding.
