Position: Music Teacher - Minister (FLSA: Part-Time, Exempt)
Reports to: Principal
Location: St. Paul's Catholic School, Jacksonville Beach
General Summary: Under the direction of the school principal, supports the Diocese of St. Augustine in its mission to educate, evangelize, and catechize youth in a Catholic school environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Recognize and support the Catholic mission by speaking, acting, and instructing consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Collaborate with the principal to build the faith community and participate in faith-based activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and security of information.
- Adhere to diocesan and school policies, supporting the spiritual, pastoral, and educational mission.
- Prepare lesson plans to meet academic goals and integrate Catholic religious curriculum.
- Participate in religious and service-related activities to foster faith community.
- Communicate effectively about academic and religious curriculum, organize learning materials, and motivate students.
- Establish classroom management practices that promote positive behavior and self-direction.
- Engage in continuous professional development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Practicing Catholic in good standing preferred; must respect the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Maintain Florida Professional Educator certification.
- Obtain Basic Diocesan Ministry Certification within two years.
- Respect and promote Catholic teachings and morals.
- Valid driver’s license and pass background checks, including Protecting God’s Children workshop.
- Proficient in computer technology and flexible in teaching strategies.
- Maintain a positive, respectful attitude and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, interpret, and communicate effectively in various formats.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to perform basic math calculations and interpret data.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to analyze problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Regular physical activity, ability to lift up to 20 pounds, and adaptable work environment, with some evening and weekend hours required.
