We succeed by always doing the right thing with focus, urgency, and passion.JOB OVERVIEWThis position is responsible for the strategic vision and execution of the programming format of the sports radio station. The position also has the ultimate responsibility of setting policy, management of programming personnel for the station and budget functions.JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIESSet programming and operational policy and strategic mission for the sports radio station.Ensure execution of policies, goals and action plans by communicating to appropriate individuals.Study and plan for future station programming and operations.Responsible for the day-to-day programming of the station as well as Brokered/Paid Programs including managing schedules, shows and all show/host related items.Analysis and interpretation of data and research. Evaluate whether changes to work are needed and how to communicate such changes.Develop, maintain, administer and take ownership of budget.Work with and provide direction to programming employees and others on solutions in programming related areas.Work closely with sales management to develop the programming and products needed to achieve revenue budgets.Build synergy with digital staff to provide digital extensions through the website, mobile app and social media. Regularly monitor performance of mobile app and ensure website is up to date.Manage game credentials for staff and brokered shows.Work closely with Promotions and Marketing Director to create and execute on-air promotions.Knowledgeable of, and applies as needed, all current FCC rules and regulations.Work closely with engineering staff in overseeing the technical and audio components in regards to station function and sound.Represent the station in negotiations/communications with sports affiliates and oversee execution of on-air schedules as stipulated in sports affiliate contracts.Responsible for quarterly BMI and Nielsen reporting.Work cooperatively and collaboratively with engineering, production and sales departments as well as others.Acts in a professional manner when representing each station.Represent station at various events.QUALIFICATIONSSports radio programming experience and experience in a supervisory position preferred.Proven ability to function effectively under deadlines and in high-pressure situations.Thorough understanding of FCC guidelines regarding compliance with rules including indecency, profanity, payola/plugola, and contesting.Ability to bring out and understand the station's overall programming objectives and philosophies.Exercise discretion and good judgment.Ability to interact and communicate effectively with diverse groups of individuals.Quick and clear thinking required.Project a professional appearance and demeanor.Ability to work in compliance with company policies and procedures.Ability to function in a team environment.Physical RequirementsAverage sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching.Ability to read, hear and speak clearly.Manual dexterity to manipulate computer keys and other board controls as well as office equipment.Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, and business proposals.Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing.Requires the ability to think creatively, critically and tactically and to articulate information in a clear and concise manner to others verbally and in writing.Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.
