Job Description:
Job Title: Senior Graphic Designer
Department: Marketing
FLSA: Exempt
General Function:
Develop and design engaging marketing materials and assets for corporate initiatives, retail promotions, and unique projects that align with Hy-Vee’s comprehensive omnichannel strategy. Additionally, offer creative insights and direction to graphic designers and external partner agencies.

Reporting Relations:
Accountable and Reports to: Director, Creative Services
Positions that Report to you: Graphic Designer(s) and/or Junior Graphic Designer(s)
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conceptualize and design marketing materials including point of sale displays, environmental graphics, landing pages, digital advertisements, and email campaigns, ensuring that all initiatives are consistent with the brand and aligned with Hy-Vee’s strategic goals.
- Collaborate with team members to brainstorm ideas, welcome constructive feedback and solve problems visually.
- Manage and mentor junior designers to ensure balanced workload and foster their design skills and strategic thinking.
- Provide art direction to outside partners, ensuring that all assets are on-brand and strategically effective.
- Direct photo shoots, offering initial guidance and support during sessions with external collaborators.
- Edit, manipulate and color correct images.
- Stay current with design trends and emerging technologies.
- Help to maintain asset and database management of Hy-Vee images and files.
- Maintain knowledge of computers, associated art applications and technical support.
- Report to work on time and works expected number of hours.
- Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.

Education and Experience:
- Four-year degree with an emphasis in graphic design preferred.
- 5-7 years’ experience required.
- Agency or design firm experience a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Qualifications:
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop).
- Experience with Figma.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects and varying deadlines independently.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills; ability to take direction and provide constructive feedback.
- Strong intrapersonal skills; ability to relate to and interact with other people in a friendly, professional manner.

- Ability to interact with basic computer systems, including Microsoft 360 programs such as Teams, Outlook and Excel.
- Bonus skill: basic animation and video knowledge a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near range with or without correction.
- Must be physically able to perform sedentary work: occasionally lifting or carrying objects of no more than 10 pounds, and occasionally standing or walking.
- Must be able to perform the following physical activities: stooping, kneeling, reaching, handling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Working Conditions:
The duties of this position are performed in a general office setting. There is frequent pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects in day.
Equipment Used to Perform Job:
Mac with Microsoft Office programs, Hy-Vee corporate ad program, Adobe Creative Suite 6 (Photoshop), Acrobat & Premiere Pro Extensis Portfolio; scanner.
