This role reports firsthand information of news events national and international. The news correspondent provides to the audience context, analysis, and different perspectives.Responsibilities:Daily coverage of news events primarily from the Miami bureau.Contribute to the editorial line of the day pitching stories and exclusive reports or interviews.Special coverage of important news eventsResearching and gathering of new stories using a variety of sources, such as interviews, press releases and social media.On occasions travel to cover breaking newswork in a fast paced, dead-line driven environment with the willingness to work weekends, early morning shift and have flexible hours for last-minute scheduling changes.Work under the supervision of executive and senior producers.Work in collaboration with assignment editors, executive producer, producers, and writers.Exhibits an understanding of social media to gather information for the stories.Qualifications
Basic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, or equivalent work experienceMinimum 3 years of experience in a newsroom in SpanishExperience creating digital video content in a newsroom is helpful.Strong editorial knowledgeProven solid writing skills and editorial judgment.Ability to work under tight deadlines to write headlines and edit video for live digital broadcast.Must be fully fluent in English and Spanish (both written and verbal)Available for early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.Social Media knowledgeBasic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, or equivalent work experienceMinimum 3 years of experience in a newsroom in SpanishExperience creating digital video content in a newsroom is helpful.Strong editorial knowledgeProven solid writing skills and editorial judgment.Ability to work under tight deadlines to write headlines and edit video for live digital broadcast.Must be fully fluent in English and Spanish (both written and verbal)Available for early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.Must be willing to work in the greater Miami, Florida area.Must be 18 years or older.Must have a valid driver’s license.Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United StatesMust be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution ProgramDesired Characteristics:Accustomed to working in a team and collaborating with all levels within the organization.Proven excellent interpersonal skills combined with a strong sense of how to visually tell a compelling story.Outside of the box thinkerProficient in I-News, Media Central helpfulAdditional Information
