Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking an experienced Senior Marketing Manager to lead the strategy, planning, and execution of the company's marquee event program across Global regions. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the global customer experience and driving a consistent customer journey across AWS's world-class events.
In this high-impact role, you will set the overarching strategy and vision for AWS's flagship event program, ensuring a cohesive and seamless customer experience across regions. You will oversee the development of a centralized framework with local delivery across key workstreams including digital strategy, demand generation, sales strategy, lead generation, content strategy, creative and technology. Your responsibilities will include partnering with regional stakeholders to define program goals, managing global budgets and timelines, and orchestrating the efforts of internal teams and external agencies to deliver exceptional, large-scale, highly technical educational events targeting IT decision-makers and builders worldwide.
As the Head of Global Summits, you will serve as the strategic lead, driving innovation and best practices to elevate the event experience consistently across regions. You will collaborate closely with regional teams and stakeholders, providing guidance and ensuring alignment with the global strategic business vision. Your exceptional communication skills will be critical in managing leadership reviews, post-event debriefs, program reviews, fostering cross-functional collaboration and creating mechanisms to drive improvements across AWS Marketing.
The ideal candidate has 12+ years of proven experience in leading global event programs, preferably in the technology industry. This highly motivated and organized professional must possess exceptional project management skills, with a track record of managing complex, multi-regional projects concurrently. Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities, and experience in managing global stakeholders and vendor partnerships are essential. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of event marketing best practices are essential.
This role will be based at an AWS corporate office, with the potential for relocation assistance within the US or internationally.
Key job responsibilities
Define the global strategy, goals, and objectives for the Summit event program across all regions
Develop and implement a centralized framework for digital strategy, demand generation, sales strategy, lead generation, creative, and technology use
Manage global budgets, timelines, and resource allocation across regions
Foster cross-functional collaboration and alignment in a matrixed model with regional teams, stakeholders, and agency partners
Oversee the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of large-scale, highly technical events worldwide
Ensure consistent delivery of exceptional customer experiences across all regions
Provide strategic guidance and leadership to regional event teams
Conduct leadership reviews, post-event debriefs, program reviews, QBRs, and comprehensive reporting of metrics and KPIs as needed
Identify and implement best practices, innovations, and emerging trends in event marketing

Basic Qualifications
10+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience
Experience managing teams
Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements
Experience driving direction and alignment with cross-functional teams
Experience presenting metrics and progress to goal to senior leadership
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading across multiple locales
15+ years of experience in leading global event programs, preferably in the technology industry
Experience in developing and implementing centralized frameworks for digital strategy, demand generation, sales strategy, lead generation, creative, and technology use
Proven track record of managing global budgets and resource allocation across regions
Demonstrated ability to foster cross-functional collaboration and alignment with regional teams, stakeholders, and agency partners
Familiarity with identifying and implementing best practices, innovations, and emerging trends in event marketing
Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills
Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Ability to thrive in a highly collaborative and cross-functional team setting
Proven project management skills with the ability to manage complex, multi-regional projects concurrently
Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities
Experience in managing global stakeholders and vendor partnerships

Travel: 50%, including international travel to regional events and meetings

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $140,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $232,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
