Overview
External Communications Specialist paying up to $75K for an international corporation in the Dallas area. The talented External Communications Specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing effective external communication strategies to enhance external awareness and perception of the Company and its business units, as well as proactively managing the corporation’s reputation. This position will play a crucial role in fostering positive relationships with the media, stakeholders and the public while ensuring that the organization’s message is effectively communicated and aligned with the strategic objectives. The successful candidate will possess exceptional communication skills, a strong understanding of U.S. media relations, and a proven track record of successfully managing external communications campaigns.
This is a DIRECT HIRE and a HYBRID position (3 days in the office)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and execute comprehensive public and media relations strategies that align with the organization's overall objectives
- Proactively build and maintain positive relationships with key media representatives, stakeholders, and industry influencers
- Craft and disseminate compelling press releases, media kits, and other communication materials to promote the organization's initiatives, achievements, and events
- Monitor media coverage and public perceptions of the organization, identifying potential risks and opportunities for proactive communication strategies
- Handle media inquiries and prepare executives and staff for public appearances and interviews.
- Coordinate and organize media events and other promotional activities to enhance the organization's public presence
- Collaborate closely with other global communications and/or marketing functions to ensure consistency in messaging and branding across all communication channels
- Monitor and analyze public relations metrics and performance indicators to assess the effectiveness of communication strategies and campaigns
- Assist with building and evolving the infrastructure necessary for world class media relations function
- Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and relevant news to provide timely insights and recommendations to the organization's leadership
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree with 2-4 years as a Public Relations or External Communications Advisor/Associate, or in a similar role within the public relations or communications field
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner
- Strong understanding of media relations, crisis management, and public relations best practices
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with media professionals, stakeholders, and key influencers
- Proficiency in using PR and communication tools, including media monitoring software and social media platforms
- Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset and a proactive approach to handling challenges
- Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals
- Experience working in a fast-paced corporate environment or a public relations agency
