Since 1973, Jubilee has worked to provide high quality affordable housing and holistic support to those experiencing persistent economic hardship in the Adams Morgan and Columbia Heights neighborhoods of Washington D.C. Jubilee operates more than a dozen properties totaling more than 500 homes and has an active development pipeline of several hundred new affordable housing units, including a first-in-kind aquaponics farm. Jubilee also offers robust programming for residents and community members as they pursue life goals.
Position Description
The Community Manager (CM) manages the daily operation of 120 units across four buildings. The CM collaborates with other Jubilee department team members. Responsibilities include overseeing leasing, maintenance, compliance with housing laws, and administrative tasks. The CM supervises staff and maintains a regular presence at properties.
The ideal candidate is a proactive leader familiar with staff, properties, and communities. The CM works with Resident Services and Property Management to ensure properties are fully occupied, well-managed, and residents are engaged and stable.
Reporting and Working Relationships
- Work in Washington, DC, primarily in Columbia Heights.
- Remain stationary for more than half the time; may need to move about the office and walk sites regularly.
- Operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver’s license and insurance.
- Perform physical tasks such as lifting 15–30 pounds and operating equipment.
- Spend significant time viewing computer monitors.
- Work outdoors and in non-climate-controlled spaces less than half the time.
- Identify and distinguish colors less than half the time.
Specific Duties
- Strong communication and public relations skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and property management software (e.g., Realpage).
- Experience with property management, real estate, and finance, including budgeting and invoicing.
- Manage multiple projects with timeliness and accuracy.
- Work independently, anticipate issues, and implement solutions.
- Attention to detail.
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least five years of property management experience, preferably managing multiple sites and over 100 units.
- Experience with property renovations is a plus.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., LIHTC, HCCP, SHCM, CAM, ARM).
