Purpose of Role

Responsible for leading our external communications efforts and managing our comms agency relationship. Plays a critical part in amplifying our brand narrative, particularly in a complex and heavily regulated industry. Partners closely with legal and compliance teams to ensure everything we say is not only compelling but also compliant.

Expectations

• Manages PR strategies that drive awareness, build credibility, and support business goals within a highly regulated environment.
• Translates complex product and organizational knowledge into clear, engaging narratives for media and external audiences.
• Ghostwrites for executive voices in both long and short formats.
• Manages the relationship with our external PR agency, ensuring alignment on messaging, priorities, and strategy.
• Coordinates media opportunities, speaking engagements, and executive visibility efforts.
• Collaborates with legal and compliance teams to review and approve all public-facing communications.
• Contributes to corporate social media strategy and the execution of our LinkedIn presence, working with the social community manager to ensure consistent, high-quality content that aligns with PR goals and amplifies media coverage.
• Monitors media coverage and PR performance, and reports on key metrics and recommend optimizations.
• Updates crisis communications plan and supports reputational risk management planning.
• Upholds brand standards by championing FOA’s integrated value proposition and the research that informed it.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications – Education Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree

Qualifications – Education – Field(s)/Profession(s)

• Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.

Qualifications – Experience/Skills/Competencies

• Minimum 4 years of experience in PR, corporate communications, or agency management, preferably in a regulated industry (e.g., finance, healthcare, life sciences).
• Strong PR agency background.
• Direct experience working with legal and compliance teams to craft compliant messaging.
• Demonstrated ability to ramp up quickly in complex or technical subject areas.
• Strong command of LinkedIn as a channel for brand storytelling, executive visibility, and thought leadership.
• Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong project management and stakeholder coordination abilities.
• Strong news judgement and fluency in media relations best practices.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is ($100,800 - $134,400 ) inclusive of all geographical differences in the labor market. The base salary for the position will be determined based on factors such as the candidate’s work location, skills, education, and experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members in determining any final offer.
