The South Bend Tribune, part of the USA TODAY Network, is seeking a reporter to join our sports team to create impactful stories on a strong high school sports scene in Northern Indiana and southwest Michigan, plus play a role with the newsroom’s coverage of Notre Dame athletics and the South Bend Cubs minor league baseball team.
The Tribune covers more than 30 teams in an area where passion for high school sports is high, and statewide success is frequent. While the biggest games are important, our reporting takes readers far beyond the field of play: Breaking news, chronicling the newest names and faces to make an impact on the local sports scene, telling the stories of the slew of Division I talent and creating well-sourced enterprise are key parts of this position.
This writer, as needed, will also assistant Tribune’s coverage of Notre Dame athletics, including football.
Located right along the Indiana-Michigan state line, South Bend is two hours east of downtown Chicago, two hours north of Indianapolis and just over three hours southwest of Detroit. It's an exciting time to live in northern Indiana, as several new, diverse restaurants and businesses are opening across the area, especially in downtown South Bend. There are plenty of outdoor activities to do as well, with the Saint Joseph River a great background for numerous parks and trails.
