Created in 1993, LAHSA is a joint powers authority of the city and county of Los Angeles. As the lead agency in the HUD-funded Los Angeles Continuum of Care, we coordinate and manage over $800 million annually in federal, state, county, and city funds for programs providing shelter, housing, and services to people experiencing homelessness.
Under the direction of the Manager, Funder Relations, this staff member will support the development (design and implementation), submission, and management (appropriate monitoring, reporting, and administrative supports) of requests and recommendations for funding for programs and services designed to end homelessness in Los Angeles County. The Grant Writer/Coordinator will also identify, and address gaps and needs in program and service delivery as result of shortages of funding, delays in funding, and/or administrative barriers associated with restrictive funding, and work to align system funding, resources, and opportunities to addresses barriers to program and systems-level success.

Essential Job Functions
Supports the development and submission of funding requests and recommendations to public and private funders, including writing and proofreading request narratives, and reviewing funding requirements and incorporating into request submissions.Leads in the design of public and private funding opportunities through developing policies and procedures to deploy and track funding opportunities including consultation and involvement of community members and stakeholders; development of solicitations for funding; and the evaluation of proposals submitted for funding.Supports the development and implementation of tools that will assist LAHSA to implement, track, and monitor public and private funding opportunities in support of delivering services to persons experiencing or at risk of homelessness, including form creation and development, as well as guidance and training on how to access and utilize new tools/forms.Inform budgeting process, including support of long-term planning through forecasting and projecting budget needs.Coordinate with staff across LAHSA in support of the preparation and development of forecasts and projections of revenue, allocations, and expenditures, to promote seamless operations and minimize interest expense.Coordinates, facilitates, trains, and supports providers (in conjunction with LAHSA interdepartmental teams) in post-award activities, such as: contract coordination, contract and agency onboarding, data quality assurance, and new program kick-off.Analyze LAHSA and other public and private funding mechanisms to identify additional opportunities for program expansion, optimization of funding, improving timeliness of funding, etc.All other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program EligibilityLAHSA is considered a government employer for the PSLF Program.
Pension PlanLAHSA provides a 401A pension plan through Lincoln Financial. After 6 months of employment, employees are eligible for contributions of 5% of the employee's salary with a qualification date of 500 hours or 6 months after the date of hire.
Deferred Compensation PlanLAHSA provides a 457 Deferred Compensation plan through Lincoln Financial. Employees may elect to defer up to IRS maximum limit per year of their earned salary for income tax purposes.
Time Off Administrative LeaveExecutive Director, chiefs, and directors receive five (5) days of admin leave each calendar year in addition to the time-off below.
VacationVacation is earned according to each month of service commencing with the employee's initial date of hire.
Less than five (5) years of employment, eighty (80) hours per year.Five (5) to ten (10) years of employment, one hundred twenty (120) hours per year.More than ten (10) years of employment, the one hundred twenty (120) hour total shall be supplemented by one (1) workday of paid leave for each twelve (12) months greater than one hundred twenty (120) months of employment. This vacation accrual is capped at twenty (20) workdays per yearMaximum accrual of vacation leave is 200 hours.
Sick LeaveFull-time employees accrue sick leave at a rate of 12 days per year. Maximum accrual of sick leave is 160 hours.
