Technician, Repair Shop
The purpose of this job is to repair musical instruments in a timely and proficient manner so that the instrument is returned in good playing order. A technician can specialize in one type of instrument, or work on multiple types.
Responsibilities:
- Work on rental returned instruments efficiently and promptly.
- Ensure each instrument is repaired according to established quality guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records for production reporting.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Music & Arts was founded in Bethesda, MD in 1952 by Benjamin O'Brien, initially offering printed music, lessons, and art supplies. It later focused solely on music, expanding nationwide through growth and acquisitions. In 2005, it merged with American Music, becoming the largest band and orchestra retailer in the U.S., now part of Guitar Center with over 200 retail stores and numerous educational and affiliate locations.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Apprenticeship or diploma from an accredited repair school.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Proficiency with standard repair shop tools and equipment.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience working daily on musical instruments.
- Skilled in repairing brass, woodwind, percussion, and orchestral instruments efficiently.
Preferred Requirements:
- 4+ years of relevant experience on musical instruments.
- Advanced understanding and repair skills for various instruments.

- Strong problem-solving and technical skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
