TFE currently has two Plumbing Designer positions available in Greenville, SC. This position provides essential technical knowledge and performs design work as described below. The Plumbing Designer serves as an Area Lead Designer or staff designer performing assignments of advanced complexity.
Under general supervision of the Discipline Lead Engineer or Design Supervisor, serve as an Area Lead Designer providing guidance/supervision to designersPrepare and check designs of advanced complexity utilizing 3D modeling and 2D computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) automation toolsCoordinate technical issues with other disciplines, project management, vendors and clientsExecute work in compliance with Project Quality Plan and proceduresExecute work in accordance with the approved project scope, cost and schedule baselinesPerform bulk material take-off analysis and tabulationsProvide technical support to activities associated with equipment and material procurement and subcontracting including review of vendor submittalsProvide technical support to activities associated with construction administration including response to construction requests-for-information and field changesOther duties as assignedRequirements
U.S. Citizenship requiredMinimum fifteen (15) years of work-related experience designing HVAC or plumbing systemsWorking knowledge of applicable federal (including Department of Energy orders), state, and local codes and standardsAbility to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to project management, coworkers, clients, vendors, and subcontractorsJob related technical knowledge necessary to complete the jobAdvanced knowledge of discipline codes and standardsAbility to perform work in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal codes, statutes and guidelinesAbility to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective mannerIntermediate computer and software skills to include proficiency in the use of word processing, e-mail, spreadsheet and electronic presentation programsSignificant experience providing engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services on large industrial projectsProficiency executing large engineering projects utilizing 3D modeling and 2D CADD automation tools in a multi-discipline environmentAbility and willingness to work 50 hours per weekDiscipline Specific Job Requirements
Proficiency utilizing 3D modeling and 2D CADD automation tools in the design of HVAC or plumbing systems3D modeling of HVAC equipment and ductworkDevelopment of 2D duct plans from the 3D modelDevelopment of 2D sections, details and HVAC schedulesPreferred Qualifications
Associate degree in related technical field of studyExperience with design of systems, structures and components for nuclear facilities under the requirements of ASME NQA-1Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materialsPractical field experienceEPC project experience for the following industries:- U.S Department of Energy or other U.S. Federal Government Agency
- Nuclear facilities under a nuclear quality assurance program
- Manufacturing, pharmaceutical or biotechnology
Advanced knowledge and proficiency using Intergraph Smart3D (S3D) software with minimum 3 years of experience
