From A Way Out to It Takes Two, and now our latest project, Split Fiction, we’ve built a reputation for crafting emotional, cinematic experiences filled with humor, heart, and gameplay-driven narratives.

As a Writer, you’ll play a key role in shaping our next adventure. Working closely with our Head Writer - Sebastian, you’ll craft unforgettable characters, sharp dialogue, and immersive storytelling moments. This is a highly collaborative role where your writing will be an essential part of the game’s development, ensuring our stories feel alive, dynamic, and deeply engaging.

What You'll Do

• Write compelling cinematic scripts, cutscenes, dialogue, and story content that align with Hazelight’s signature storytelling style.
• Developengaging characters with distinct voices and personalities.
• Collaborate with designers, animators, and fellow writers to seamlessly integrate narrative and gameplay.
• Maintain alighthearted, playful, and emotionally resonant tone that enhances the player experience.
• Work inFinal Draft to structure and format scripts, ensuring industry-standard screenplay presentation.
• Participate instory brainstorming sessions, script readings, and revisions based on feedback.
• Adapt scripts based onvoice-over performances, gameplay needs, and production constraints.

What We're Looking For

• Native English speaker with an ear for natural, engaging dialogue.
• Proven experience writing for games, film, TV, or interactive media, with at least one published or produced work (game credits, screenplay, or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of cinematic storytelling, character development, and dialogue writing.
• Experience with interactive media or a solid grasp of how the story integrates with gameplay.
• Ability to collaborate in a creative, fast-paced environment.
• Strong editing and iteration skills, you can take and implement feedback effectively.
• Passion for games and innovative storytelling mechanics.

The Details

• 1-year contractor role with the possibility of extension.
• Can be fully remote as we’re open to candidates worldwide.
