Join to apply for the Photographer Editor role at Hearst Television Hearst Television is seeking a creative, energetic, and flexible News Photographer and Editor to join our Washington, DC News Bureau. You will provide the first-hand perspective as our team covers the biggest national political stories and local impact angles for Hearst Television’s 27 newsrooms. This role involves creating visually compelling television stories on tight deadlines, with versatility in shooting and editing from the field and remote locations around the nation’s Capitol and beyond. You will be at the forefront of infusing active video, natural sound, data, graphics, and animation into your storytelling. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with excellent video editing skills, respectful and effective communication, strong organization and time-management skills, and knowledge of local television newsroom workflows. Approaching every assignment with an unbiased, fact- and context-driven journalistic mentality is essential. Our DC team shoots with full ENG cameras (Sony x400), GoPro, and iPhone, edits using Adobe Premiere, and primarily uses TVU for live capabilities. You will report to the Chief Photographer. Responsibilities: Shooting and editing video news stories for broadcast and multi-media platforms Responsible for technical setup, lighting, and shooting of live segments in the field and studio Collaborating with correspondents and producers to gather and include the best content and facts in stories Executing the creative vision of correspondents and producers with vivid video and graphics Coordinating and communicating incoming video elements from various sources In-person attendance is required Qualifications: 1-2 years of experience in a local TV newsroom or DC bureau Understanding of local news operations, news gathering, and video editing under tight deadlines Ability to respond quickly to breaking news Effective communication skills Ability to carry up to 50 pounds of equipment Ability to work in all weather conditions Valid driver’s license with a near-perfect driving record A passion for journalism, reliability, respect for equipment, and stress management skills Salary: Estimated range: $71,000 - $74,000, dependent on experience and other factors.
