Position Overview:
We are seeking a creative and driven Video Journalist Intern for our summer internship program. This opportunity is ideal for high school graduates or currently enrolled college students with a passion for visual storytelling and digital journalism. Interns will receive hands-on training in researching hiring trends, interviewing local employers, and producing professional videos for web and social media.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research Michigan employers with current job openings
- Schedule and conduct interviews with recruiters and business owners
- Write scripts and assist with voiceovers or on-camera segments
- Record and edit high-quality video stories
- Produce content tailored for YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn, and our digital magazine
- Work closely with editorial and media staff to meet production goals
Requirements:
- Previous experience using video recording/editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve)
- Must provide personal equipment (camera, mic, lighting, tripod, etc.)
- Strong interest in journalism, media, and career-focused content
- Excellent verbal communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently on assignments and meet deadlines
- Must be a high school graduate or currently enrolled in a college or university program, or a recent graduate of college
- Portfolio or sample video work must be submitted with your application
