The role will encompass a range of initiatives, including working with practice specialty areas as assigned, drafting pitches and credentials, leading profile raising and marketing campaigns, including client programs and events, and coordinating communications such as client alerts, award and directory submissions, and digital content. This is a global role that will work closely with practice teams primarily in the U.S., as well as lawyers and M&BD colleagues in the UK and Continental Europe. Our Antitrust and Competition practice consists of approximately 140 lawyer's residents in 18 countries. The team advises on competition investigations, litigation, merger control, risk management, public procurement, state aid and public policy. The practice is hailed as a “top 10 global elite” by Global Competition Review. Practice leadership sits in London and Washington, D.C., with an advisory board in the U.S. and Continental Europe. Our Government Relations and Public Affairs practice takes a strategic approach to complex, often highly technical matters. We have earned a top tier ranking by Chambers USA, where sources say, we are “considered to be at the forefront of government relations issues.” We are regularly included in rankings compiled by industry surveys, including Legal Times’ Influence 50, Washingtonian’s Top Lobbyists, and The National Law Journal’s Leaders of the Pack. JOB DESCRIPTION PLANNING & STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT Deliver market research, client analysis and internal intelligence to support the business planning process for our Antitrust, Government Relations focused offerings. Support the implementation of the business plans, ensuring the practice leadership teams and relevant working groups are meeting regularly to deliver on the plans. Manage BD budgets in alignment with the business plan, including reviewing monthly spend report line items and supporting relevant approval guidelines and firm policies. Monitor financial performance of the Antitrust, Government Relations clients and regulatory practices. PITCHING & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT Cultivate a deep understanding of the areas of expertise and client needs across the practices. Create and maintain a suite of standard targeting materials, including credential documents and experience database. Draft and coordinate responses to RFPs, customized pitches, and business development presentations; prepare and contribute content to firm-wide pitches; collaborate with other M&BD colleagues as required. Oversee and analyze pitch data and performance for the firm-wide pitch systems; monitor success rates and make recommendations for improvements. Conduct post pitch feedback where appropriate. Meet regularly with the lawyers in order to support their business objectives. PROFILE RAISING & MARKETING CAMPAIGNS Support implementation of integrated marketing campaigns for the practices to help raise profile and awareness among key target audiences and generate opportunities to meet potential clients. Assist in content development and distribution via internal and external channels, including social media. Coordinate and support practice client seminars, webinars, association activities, and other marketing-oriented events and programs, including the development of program materials, day-of support and follow up, including metrics-driven program reporting. Build and manage relationships with membership associations and programs with which the firm is a member of and/or partner. Draft, coordinate, and leverage directory submissions for ranking organizations/publications. Create and maintain targeted mailing lists for client communications, events, seminars. Promote practice capabilities and activities across the firm, through regular internal newsletters, active participation at practice meetings, and maintenance of practice intranet sites. Support the M&BD team and central PR team on effective profile-raising plans and campaigns for both the practice and individual partners. Help to initiate and implement strategic marketing and business development campaigns and projects for the practice areas. Maintain, update, and develop collateral including credentials, work experience, practice overviews, and website content. Leverage the firm’s technologies to maintain work experience and track client and prospect engagement. WIDER M&BD PROJECTS Contribute to wider M&BD projects as required. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED SKILLS Knowledge of antitrust law, and/or government relations and public affairs Solid knowledge of marketing and business development processes; General understanding of the commercial world and its drivers Ability to independently execute campaigns and other assigned projects Ability to create a positive impact with colleagues, peers, partners, and clients and to demonstrate diplomacy, listening, and influencing skills Strong written and verbal communication skills with an excellent eye for detail and the ability to write in a compelling way Effective organizational and project management skills, including the ability to plan ahead and prioritize conflicting demands to meet deadlines Initiative and a “can do attitude” Ability to work effectively under pressure Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE Seven (7) + years of relevant experience, preferably in a legal or professional services sector. Experience working with international organizations or other multinational law firms or corporation's desirable. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in communications, marketing, or a related field. HOURS Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., including lunch hour, with flexibility to work outside normal business hours as needed. In Washington, DC, the annualized salary range for this position is $130,000 to $170,000 depending on the candidate's overall experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full time employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus. In addition, full time employees as well as some part time employees, will be eligible for the firm’s fringe benefits as they currently exist.
