Description
I.M.P.'s marketing and communications internship provides a learning platform for those interested in promoting live concerts and events. This internship will help participants gain knowledge and experience while providing a unique working environment. Interns will work with the marketing and communications departments to execute effective and creative marketing campaigns resulting in ticket and merch sales, increased community presence, and heightened brand recognition. We expect all interns to have a professional and positive attitude, an open mind, and a willingness and desire to learn the ins and out of concert promotions.
Job Description:Duties & Responsibilities -
Update company websites with pertinent show information, biographies, and press photos, and assist in the maintenance of internal artist databaseCoordinate and maintain street team calendar and activationsOrganize, install, and track the distribution of promotional materials at venues, partner businesses, and other points around the cityContribute to copywriting efforts for marketing emails, press releases, social media, and internal marketing communicationsParticipate in brainstorming sessions for marketing and promoting upcoming showsCreate marketing summary reports for artist agents/ managers and department staffPrepare marketing materials for I.M.P. promotional activations at 9:30 Club, Lincoln Theatre, The Anthem, Merriweather Post Pavilion, as well as non-I.M.P. venuesUtilize Google Analytics and ticketing platform marketing tools to analyze sales reports and trends, and genre/affinity targetingProof both physical and digital marketing collateral, including print and outdoor ads, social media content, and email communicationWork with Social Media Manager to create content for organic and paid posts for venue social channelsWork with Communications team to covers shows, and assist with press efforts promoting upcoming shows by researching artist's past press and interviews, artist information, and past and upcoming music releases
I.M.P. offers three rounds seasonal internships each year:
Spring Semester (January - April)Summer Semester (May - August)Fall/Winter Semester (September - December

Located at 9th and V Streets NW in Washington, D.C., the 9:30 Club is the inimitable place bands aspire to play and music fans love to attend - a destination for locals and people across the country. Gracing the stage have been legends Bob Dylan, Dolly Parton, Al Green, Willie Nelson and James Brown; recently discovered acts like Adele, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Gary Clark Jr., Fitz and the Tantrums, Imagine Dragons and Drake, and arena acts looking for an intimate club play such as Justin Timberlake, the Smashing Pumpkins, Jane's Addiction, Foo Fighters and Fall Out Boy. The 9:30 Club is a multiple winner of Billboard's and Pollstar's Top Club awards.

Formed in 1980, I.M.P. is a Bethesda, MD-based concert promoter and event production company. In addition to launching the Virgin Festival in the U.S. and Preakness InField Fest and programming and producing the Sweetlife Festival, the principals at I.M.P. own Washington D.C.'s legendary 9:30 Club, named the Top Club by Rolling Stone, Billboard and Pollstar, renowned as the premier place to see and hear cutting edge live music of all varieties. I.M.P. also programs and operates Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Md. and the Lincoln Theatre in Washington, D.C. The Anthem is the company's new 2,500 - 6,000 person capacity venue, which opened to national acclaim October of 2017 on the Southwest Waterfront in Washington, D.C. Over the last 41 years, I.M.P. and the 9:30 Club have put on nearly 18,000 events, hosting millions of music fans.
