About the Role
Are you passionate about storytelling through video? The Video Intern in the Digital Production & Preservation Department will work closely with the Lead Videographer to support a range of audiovisual projects across the museum and Kansas City. This internship offers hands-on experience in video production, editing, and creative storytelling, providing an opportunity to contribute to projects such as artist interviews, exhibition trailers, e-commerce videography, and social media content creation.
What You'll Do
- Assist in Video Production: Support the Lead Videographer in filming and editing content for museum initiatives.
- Create Engaging Content: Contribute to projects ranging from exhibition trailers to social media videos.
- Capture Artist Interviews: Help film and edit interviews with artists and museum professionals.
- Develop Technical Skills: Work with professional cameras, lighting, and audio equipment.
- Enhance Post-Production Abilities: Edit video footage using Adobe Premiere Pro and other software.
- Support Museum Marketing Efforts: Create compelling video content that highlights exhibitions, events, and educational programs.
- Must be a Junior or Senior at the Kansas City Art Institute at the time of internship or a UMKC student.
- A photography, video, or media major (or a student with a strong interest in videography).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Has a basic understanding of Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Premiere Pro and After Effects.
- Experienced in audiovisual processes, including camera operation and sound recording.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and adaptable to different types of projects.
- Gain hands-on experience in museum videography and digital storytelling.
- Work closely with a professional videographer and museum creatives.
- Build a diverse portfolio with high-quality projects.
- Develop technical and creative skills in a real-world setting.
