Hamline University’s department of Digital + Studio Arts (D+SA) welcomes candidates interested in undergraduate teaching opportunities in studio art, digital art, and art history courses for the 2025-26 academic year and beyond. Adjunct instructor is a part-time, temporary, exempt position, and employment is offered on a course-by-course basis. Indicating your interest does not guarantee being awarded a contract; the number and topic of available sections will vary by semester and by department need. Application materials will be retained for consideration for future semesters. Adjunct instructors at Hamline are represented by SEIU Local 284.

Applicants are welcome in the following areas (please send only one application, but in your cover letter feel free to indicate interest and experience in multiple areas):

• Drawing (foundations)
• Sculpture (wood, welding, moldmaking/foundry)
• Printmaking
• Digital Photography
• Augmented Reality
• Graphic Design / Typography (Adobe Creative Cloud)
• Web Design / UX (Figma)
• Animation
• Global Art History (writing-intensive)
• Modern & Contemporary Art History (writing-intensive; inclusive of digital arts)
• Art History: Visual Constructions of Gender (writing-intensive)

Preferred qualifications:

• MFA or advanced degree in area of expertise, or equivalent experience
• Demonstrated record of successful teaching at the undergraduate level
• Strong background in art/design foundations (principles, color theory, history)
• Commitment to high-impact teaching practices for majors and non-majors
