Attention, all artists! Leaders of Tomorrow Youth Center (LTYC) in Laurel, MD is in search of a dedicated Afterschool Visual Arts Instructor to become part of our dynamic team. Our center serves as a creative haven, where young imaginations are nurtured to communicate through art. In this role, you will motivate and lead our students in delving into diverse art mediums, encouraging their innovation and self-expression. At LTYC, we cherish the life-changing influence of the arts and are committed to offering a supportive setting for both our students and staff. Responsibilities
- Develop engaging visual arts lesson plans for afterschool programs catering to different age groups and skill levels.
- Purpose: To foster creativity and artistic expression among young students.
- Implement effective classroom management techniques to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Purpose: To ensure a productive and safe space for students to explore their artistic abilities.
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance to students to help them improve their artistic skills and techniques.
- Purpose: To support student growth and development in visual arts.
- Collaborate with other instructors and staff to coordinate and participate in art exhibitions and showcases.
- Purpose: To showcase students' work and celebrate their artistic achievements.
- Evaluate student progress and performance through assessments and feedback to adapt teaching methods and materials as needed.
- Purpose: To track student development and tailor instruction to meet individual needs.
- Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts or related field
- Experience in lesson planning for visual arts curriculum
- Ability to effectively manage a classroom of young students
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Legal authorization to work in the US
$30 - $35 hourly

LTYC has been able to impact the lives of more than 160,000 students, ranging from grades K-12. Many of our students come from schools in Baltimore City and surrounding areas that are in dire need of arts education and behavioral intervention. Our arts education instruction includes dance, theater, music, visual arts, media arts, creative writing, STEAM, culinary arts, Yoga, martial arts, and gardening.
