Position description
The Department of Music at the University of California San Diego invites applications for a Lecturer in music theory and musicianship.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach undergraduate students. This includes leading required upper-division courses in music theory for majors and some large enrollment general education classes. This position includes assessment of student work as well as meeting with students outside of class in office hours and/or appointments.
Expertise in jazz and popular music preferred.
The appointments may vary from part time to full time. Positions are available starting Fall Quarter 2024.
Qualifications
Basic qualifications
(required at time of application)
Demonstrated track record of teaching classes in a university setting for at least 1 year
ABD for PhD or DMA status in Music or relevant topic
Preferred qualifications
Experience
teaching large scale classes in a university setting
Experience teaching upper-division courses in music theory
Expertise in jazz and popular music
