Position Summary
The Sales and Marketing Manager is responsible for directing the marketing, publicity, and sales efforts of the Wisconsin Historical Society Press (WHS Press), a leader in regional publishing that produces high-quality books and magazines aligned with the Wisconsin Historical Society's mission, vision, core values, and principles. The position is an integral part of a team of creative, passionate, and experienced publishing professionals, based in vibrant and beautiful Madison, Wisconsin.
The Sales and Marketing Manager leads the planning and execution of WHS Press's sales and marketing strategies and oversees all Press activities related to publicity, sales, media relations, advertising, social media, website and digital marketing, book events, and industry conferences and expos. The Sales and Marketing Manager supervises and directs the work of the Press sales specialist, events coordinator, and marketing assistant , and is responsible for the Press's marketing budget . The position also serves as WHS Press's primary contact to media representatives. A successful Sales and Marketing Manager fosters healthy and mutually beneficial relationships with authors, colleagues, partner organizations, Society members and stakeholders, retailers, and the general public. The Sales and Marketing Manager is a key member of the WHS Press management team and participates in goal setting and strategic planning for the Press. The position reports to the Press Director.
Salary Information
The salary will be between $30.00 - $36.00 per hour ($62,400 - $74,880 annually) in accordance with the provisions of the current Compensation Plan. Civil service classification is Marketing Supervisor. This position is in pay schedule 81, range 03. A 12-month probationary period will be required.

Minimally qualified candidate will have experience in all of the following:
Experience in book publishing and/or book salesExperience planning and implementing marketing strategies and tactics for products and product linesServing as a lead worker or supervisor of staff including making recommendations regarding hiring, evaluating, promoting, discharging, etc.In addition to minimum qualifications, a well-qualified candidate will additionally have experience in one of the following areas:
Experience working with local and national mediaExperience working with K-12 education marketsExperience reaching new audiences and marketsExperience with digital/online marketing
