MAIN FOCUS:
A highly productive individual contributor, the Director of Strategic Communications, Transformational Giving, will use strong persuasive writing skills and messaging expertise to develop and manage various fundraising communications for the Transformational Giving (TG) Team. This position will support and coordinate closely with another Director of Strategic Communications, Transformational Giving, and will be responsible for leading high-priority communications initiatives. LOCATION:
Palo Alto, CA (hybrid): This role requires working in the office as needed, approximately eight (8) days a month. WHAT YOU'LL DO... The Director will report to the Director of Strategic Communications, Principal Gifts, and be part of the Donor Relations Team within the Department of Strategic Communications. The role involves partnering with the Vice President of Transformational Giving and the TG team to develop communications related to transformational philanthropic opportunities that will generate significant revenue for maternal and child health initiatives at Stanford. Responsibilities include creating compelling donor-facing materials, supporting communications for Foundation events, and engaging top donors. The annual compensation range is $150k-$165k. YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR... Strategic Communications:
Support overall strategy and vision for TG communications, develop content for Foundation-wide projects, lead projects with external vendors, and recommend new communication approaches. Donor Communications/Solicitations – Revenue Growth:
Create proposals and donor materials, develop tailored collateral, collaborate on gift opportunity overviews, share resources across teams, draft briefings and personalized acknowledgments, and mentor colleagues. YOU MUST HAVE... Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. At least 8 years of related experience with increasing responsibilities. Experience in strategic communications in complex environments, preferably with a background in medicine, biology, or scientific research. Ability to translate technical/scientific concepts into compelling lay language. Experience creating donor-facing materials that vary in scientific complexity. Experience managing designers or agencies, and familiarity with branding and digital design. YOU'LL BE SUCCESSFUL IF... You are an exceptional writer and communicator.
