Job Description The Design Services Manager oversees design services planning, coordination, and direction for Program Management, ensuring compliance with client needs, industry standards, regulatory codes, and trends. This role supervises office and field staff, focusing on Corrections and Rehabilitation projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Organize and direct efforts of the Technical Support Services Group, working with architects, engineers, and design professionals to deliver high-quality design services.
Manage project design review processes, including development, scheduling, and execution of review contracts and task orders.
Assist various teams in the design review process and oversee quality assurance and control.
Develop and manage client standard design documents, specifications, and standards, including handling change requests.
Oversee ADA and California building code applications, and assist in the delivery of Accessibility Transition Plans.
Conduct occasional field assessments of existing conditions, including travel to occupied prisons.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or equivalent.
At least 9 years' experience as an Architectural Project Manager and 3 years supervising staff.
Deep knowledge of master planning, project development, design management, and construction principles.
Thorough understanding of construction contracts, drawings, and specifications.
Ability to work independently within guidelines, managing multiple efforts.
Knowledge of California Building Code (CBC) and ADA standards.
Excellent communication skills for liaising with client executives.
Experience supervising staff and consultants effectively.
Strong computer skills; SharePoint, Prolog, Primavera experience preferred.
Licensure as Architect or Professional Engineer; California licensure preferred.
Additional preferences include CASp, Certified Construction Manager, and Corrections/Rehabilitation project experience.
Annual TB testing and security checks required.
Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $180,000 - $210,000, based on experience and location. Benefits include 401(k), health insurance, HSA, life and disability benefits, FSA, voluntary benefits, paid time off, EAP, pet insurance, and more.
