Overview
The Manager, Communications supports day-to-day Communications needs through strategic tactics and leadership and manages all external communications along with the Director of Strategic Communications. The Manager, Communications provides guidance with project management, supports the creation of communications plans and campaigns, tracks success rates of campaigns and media activity, edits content for external audiences, strengthens partnerships with various stakeholders, and works with the Director of Strategic Communications to identify media opportunities while strengthening the Elevate brand. The Manager, Communications is a fundamental member of the Communications Team and reports to the Director of Strategic Communications.
The Manager, Communications role is based in Chicago, Illinois and is currently hybrid remote.
ResponsibilitiesStrong written and verbal communication skills to provide clear direction.Project management experience.Supports the implementation of communication plans and strategic framework to achieve Elevate’s goals.Writes press releases, supports newsletter creation, and creates and edits content.Regularly interacts with members of the press, representing Elevate at events and press conferences when needed.Planning and managing communications projects and providing status reports.Crisis management and support Elevate’s reputation management.Support in day-to-day projects and be a thought leader in the Communications team.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent lived experienceAt least four (4+) years of professional experience in CommunicationsExperience in AP Writing Style RequiredAbility to work independently and with a teamMedia relations experienceExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExcellent public speaking skillsStrong copywriting and editing skillsExperience with Meltwater, Hootsuite, WordPress, and Canva preferredExcellent organizational skillsHas the ability to multitask and monitor multiple projectsExceptional time management skillsSelf-motivated with a positive and professional approach

Compensation
The total compensation for this position includes health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, etc.), defined contribution benefit (401k with contribution), professional development, generous paid time off policies, and a flexible schedule. This is a exempt, people manager position with a salary range of $85,000 - $95,000, based on experience.
