Meet the team: Dexcom’s Global Medical Affairs team is seeking an experienced Staff Scientist of Data Science and Real-world Evidence to join our team and be part of Dexcom’s award-winning culture, recognized by Fortune's Best Workplaces in Health Care & Biopharma. The Staff Scientist of Data Science and Real-world Evidence position in Global Medical Affairs is a key contributor to real-world evidence planning and generation responsible for developing and performing statistical analysis plans using Dexcom internal databases and external payor claims data and EHR data, providing key insights to meet business objectives and evidence needs. They collaborate across the business with collaborators in Dexcom Labs, Strategy, Behavioral Science, HEOR, Clinical Affairs, Data Science and Integrated Evidence Planning, both US and internationally. Where you come in: As a member of the Medical Affairs team, you will contribute to the development of a global RWD evidence generation strategy and tactical plan using the Dexcom DataLake, and external EHR and payor claims data, and their intersection to develop a deep understanding of Dexcom device’s clinical effectiveness and performance to provide relevant insights to meet key business objectives and evidence needs. You will translate clinical and commercial questions into structured analysis plans, formulate and test hypotheses using quantitative analysis and algorithms to provide substantial insights. You will be responsible for the validity of the analysis, demonstrating extensive understanding of statistical concepts and methodologies, recognizing and correcting flaws in scientific reasoning and statistical interpretation. You will work in close collaboration with cross-functional collaborators to contribute to observational and prospective study protocols for RWD, lead the development of statistical analysis plan development and perform statistical analysis and interpret the analysis supporting access to Dexcom’s sensor technology. Your work analyzing data and interpreting the analysis results with internal and external investigators will support the development of scientific communications including abstracts, presentations and manuscripts. You will provide subject matter expertise and input to SAPs for clinical trials. Your work will play a pivotal role in redefining Dexcom system use data and extensive real-world health systems member data to generate actionable insights and solutions. What makes you successful: You have a PhD in Data Science, Biostatistics, HEOR or Bioinformatics and more than 5 years’ experience as a Data Scientist or similar role in biotech or medical device industry. Deep understanding of EHR data and analysis is required. You have extensive experience and proficiency with statistical programming and applied data analytics tools, platforms, and relational databases, and programming languages, including SQL, R and Python, Jupyter Notebook and Jupyter Lab, and merging and analyzing large sets. You bring a blend of clinical expertise, knowledge of healthcare workflows, and a solid understanding of informatics standards to effectively address interoperability challenges with internal and external real-world data platforms. You have previous experience organizing healthcare data through data modeling, normalization, quality reporting, or related clinical informatics skills. You have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with an emphasis on attention to detail. You have excellent communication and social skills with experience conveying complex clinical and informatics concepts to diverse audiences. Experience in diabetes as a therapeutic area, and diabetes technology, and with Truveta data, or similar data platforms, is strongly preferred.
