The Materials Designer will be responsible for developing and articulating a cohesive materials strategy that aligns with the NOBULL brand's design language and innovation goals. This role involves ensuring consistency in material application across different product lines while allowing for unique expressions that fit each franchise's identity. The designer will research and experiment with innovative materials, exploring new compositions, finishes, and applications tailored to various product needs. Analyzing consumer preferences and emerging market trends will be a key responsibility to ensure material choices resonate with target audiences. The designer will translate trend insights into actionable material solutions that enhance product desirability, differentiation, and functionality. Providing guidance and support to cross-functional teams will be essential, educating them on material properties, applications, and benefits. Collaboration with suppliers and the production team will be necessary to ensure material feasibility, quality, and scalability. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in industrial design, material design, footwear design, or a related field. A minimum of 4 years of experience in materials, industrial design, or footwear, preferably in the athletic or activewear sector, is essential. A strong portfolio showcasing material and finish design work is required to demonstrate expertise. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is necessary for this role. The candidate should possess a deep understanding of footwear, apparel, and accessories manufacturing and construction methods. A positive, team-oriented mindset is crucial, along with the ability to inspire and collaborate with others. The successful individual will be self-motivated, proactive, and resourceful, thriving in dynamic, high-energy environments. Strong written and verbal communication skills are important for effectively conveying ideas and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
