HOURCAR is a nonprofit carshare organization dedicated to providing sustainable and equitable transportation solutions across the Twin Cities. We work at the intersection of mobility, environmental responsibility, and community access.
HOURCAR’s Marketing and Creative Development Manager is responsible for developing the strategy for HOURCAR’s marketing campaigns, overseeing their implementation, and evaluating their impact. These efforts are informed and shaped through data-driven analysis. The Marketing and Creative Development Manager is responsible for ensuring that all outward-facing communications reflect HOURCAR’s brand standards and unique community-centered ethos. The Marketing and Creative Development Manager works closely with the Community Engagement Manager, IT Manager, Data Analyst, and Member Services team to ensure the marketing and communications strategy is successful and aligns with HOURCAR’s values.
Responsibilities
Marketing
• Grow HOURCAR membership through effective marketing campaigns (digital, print, out-of-home, bulk mail, etc.)
• Increase member engagement and vehicle utilization through targeted member campaigns • Grow social media audience and engagement through organic and paid content
• Work with Data Analyst to analyze and improve campaign performance
• Work with IT manager to identify opportunities for increased efficiency and automation • Design and conduct member surveys, including annual demographic census, to evaluate member satisfaction and better understand usage patterns and member experience
Creative Development
• Responsible for good stewardship of the HOURCAR and Evie Carshare brands
• Direct and manage all graphic designers, copywriters, photographers, public relations professionals, and web developers
• Direct and manage the design and production of all marketing materials (digital, print, video, audio, promotional items, etc.)
• Design and update HOURCAR’s websites in accordance with brand standards (hourcar.org, eviecarshare.com and eviespotnetwork.org)
• Work closely with HOURCAR’s IT manager on upgrades to the style and substance of the HOURCAR app
• Project manage, develop layout and design for the Annual Impact Report, print and distribute to stakeholders
Other Duties
• Provide marketing and communications support to the Community Engagement Manager as needed on community outreach/events
• Hire and supervise the Marketing Coordinator • Special projects and other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
• Applicants will be required to submit a portfolio of previous marketing and design work • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage projects and oversee outside vendors and consultants • Able to work within a budget
• Able to be self-directed, set and keep deadlines, and work independently • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task
• Ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator)
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, professional environment • Ability to work collaboratively as a part of a team
• Work closely with other HOURCAR staff as part of the whole team, including respecting others' identities and using correct pronouns, and respecting everyone's different styles of learning and interacting
• Cordiality and respect for diverse communities at all times
• Possess a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets HOURCAR’s membership requirements (https://hourcar.org/membership_qualifications/)
• Must have accessible transportation or the ability to use public transportation to travel to off-site meetings and events
Desired Experience
• Media planning and buying experience across digital and out-of-home media (radio, streaming and traditional television, podcasts, etc. a plus)
• Experience working in small, resource-constrained organizations, startups and/or nonprofits • Digital marketing platforms (Google, Facebook, and Instagram ads)
• Email marketing platforms (MailChimp)
• Experience with basic graphic design and web design • Knowledgeable about Twin Cities geography
• Familiarity with multi-modal transportation, including carsharing, transit, walking and biking
Physical Requirements
• Able to sit for sustained periods of time in an indoor setting
• Occasionally able to stand for long periods of time (e.g., tabling at events) • Ability to communicate verbally
• Frequent use of communication devices including computer and telephone • Able to concentrate, learn and retain knowledge
• Ability to lift 35 pounds
• Fluent in speaking, reading and writing English
