Job Summary
The Phoenix College Library is in search of a team member who possesses digital and instructional expertise, ready to join us in our mission to enhance learning experiences for our students. We provide contextualized information literacy instruction, share reference responsibilities in both face-to-face and online settings, and seamlessly integrate library resources and services throughout our students' learning environments.
During our transition from the old Integrated Library System (ILS) to the library services platform Alma Primo VE, our Digital Services Librarian will play a key role. They will help implement a course reading tool, Leganto, and oversee the management of our LibGuides CMS within Canvas, as part of the broader effort across all MCCCD Libraries.
Essential FunctionsManages digital learning assets such as LibGuides, YouTube Channel, Canvas Commons modules, and partners with learning management administrators to optimize library resource availability in the course management system (Canvas).Designs, delivers, and assesses contextualized information literacy instruction to a diverse population in a variety of modalities.Promotes library resources and services through campus partnerships and outreach to diverse populations and users of all levels.Provides reference services.Assists with collection development in support of curriculum and student needs.Participates collaboratively in ad hoc workgroups and assists with special projects as needed.Supports Learning College philosophy and principles.Engages with college community through service and takes initiative to spark inter-campus collaborationRequires a sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Minimum Qualifications
A Master's degree or higher from a college or university program accredited by the American Library Association (ALA) in the area of Library and Information Studies, Information Studies, Library and Information Science, Library Science, Information Resources and Library Science, or Information Science.
Desired QualificationsExperience leveraging digital tools and platforms in the context of information-rich instructional content (e.g. OER, LibGuides, Leganto, LTIs, H5P)Experience managing components of a library services platform (e.g. Alma Primo VE) or managing a discovery tool and link resolver/proxy authenticationRecent experience serving in both in-person and remote settings to provide reference and research consultations with diverse populations of learners at all levels, preferably in an academic library settingResource management experience with subscription databases and ebooks (e.g. EbscoHost, GALE, ProQuest, etc.), including vendor relations, licensing, and usage dataTwo (2) or more years teaching, planning lessons, and assessing student learning outcomes in K-12, college, or adult learner environmentsExperience working collaboratively as part of a team to innovate and problem-solve
