The Secondary Instrumental Music Teacher is responsible for coordinating high-quality instrumental music instruction across multiple schools within the district. This educator will provide leadership and direction in developing and implementing engaging band programs that foster student growth, promote musical excellence, and ensure equitable access to arts education. Additionally, the Secondary Instrumental Music Teacher will conduct various student monitoring and support activities.
Essential Functions
- Instructs beginning and intermediate band students at various elementary and middle school locations. Travel between schools according to a district-provided schedule.
- Plans and implements adaptive instructional learning strategies and activities, including differentiated leveled materials, to meet the diverse needs of students in a culturally responsive and inclusive manner.
- Develops and implements engaging, standards-based music lessons aligned with district curriculum.
- Manages allotted learning time to maximize student achievement.
- Utilizes various instructional materials, including multimedia and technology, to enhance learning. Oversees instrument inventory, repairs, and distribution across multiple school sites.
- Coordinates instructional activities and collaborates with school and district-based staff to maximize learning opportunities.
- Participates in professional learning activities and staff meetings as required or assigned.
- Assesses student achievement and maintains documentation for both institutional and individual reporting.
- Maintains accurate records of student progress, attendance, and participation.
- Maintains ongoing communication with families to keep them informed about their students' progress.
- Consistently communicates with students about instructional expectations and keeps them updated on their progress in meeting those expectations.
- Sponsors or coordinates extracurricular activities such as clubs, student organizations, and academic contests.
- Organizes and directs performances, including concerts, festivals, and special events.
- Collaborates with other music educators and school staff to ensure continuity of instruction and vertical alignment.
- Advocates for the band program, supports efforts to recruit and retain students, and promotes music education in both the school and the community.
Minimum Salary 62482.00
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in music education or related field.
- 3 years' experience of success leading bands
- Valid teaching certificate with a Music endorsement (State-specific certification required).
- Proficiency in a band instrument and strong knowledge of band pedagogy.
- Demonstrated ability to teach beginning and intermediate level band students.
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse populations.
- Reliable transportation to travel between school sites.
- Communication strategies to parents and community members
- Demonstrated success in building band programs
