National Grid is hiring a Director of Creative Services for our Corporate Communications and Branding team to be located in our Brooklyn, NY office, with hybrid working.
Job PurposeThe Director of Creative Services leads the development and execution of creative campaigns globally, ensuring brand consistency, fostering innovation, and overseeing a team of designers and external partners to deliver content that aligns with the company's brand vision.
Key AccountabilitiesStrategic Leadership and Creative Development:
• Develop and implement a comprehensive creative strategy that aligns with National Grid’s corporate objectives and enhances brand identity and reputation.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to define creative goals and objectives, ensuring alignment with the overall business strategy.
• Ensure the team is delivering best-in-class capabilities and partnership across all regions.
• Innovate and stay ahead of advertising/design/marketing trends and capabilities to ensure National Grid is always a future forward brand.
• Lead by example by putting the craft into concepting, creating and inspiring others with clear guidance.
Design Operations:
• Build and establish project management systems to ensure timely delivery of creative materials across the organization.
• Build and share design systems with the wider team to ensure brand consistency and asset management relating to but not limited to: brand guidelines, photography, commonly used company-wide templates and design files.
• Work closely with Account Management and the wider Communications and Brand COE to ensure BU priorities are understood and addressed.
• Work collaboratively with the team to analyse performance metrics in order to adjust or pivot as required to optimize results and ensure a culture of continual improvement and efficiency.
• Oversee a team to train stakeholders on creative workflow processes and requirements (briefs, ticketing system, review and approvals) to ensure thoughtful inputs that streamline efficient delivery of work.
Creative Asset Management and Quality Control:
• Oversee a team that works collaboratively on the planning and execution of creative materials from individual pieces to integrated campaigns as required.
• Oversee development of and maintain creative assets for use company-wide (e.g. templates for commonly used materials, photography, video assets etc).
Team Leadership and Design Culture:
• Lead and inspire a team of internal and external creative professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance.
• Identify training and professional development opportunities for team members to enhance their skills and effectiveness in creative execution.
• Support the development of remarkable ideas - across a variety of marketing touchpoints - that resonate with our audiences, earn an outsized share of cultural conversation, and create competitive advantage.
Budget and Resource Management:
• Manage the budget for creative services initiatives, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and alignment with financial goals.
• Collaborate with finance and operations teams to monitor financial performance and optimize resource utilization.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
10+ years' experience in creative services, brand management, or marketing strategy.
Continuously seeking opportunities to elevate the brand, creatively driving growth and evolution while staying true to its core identity.
Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to assess complex creative issues and develop effective solutions.
Skilled at integrating modern technologies and emerging trends into National Grid’s brand storytelling to enhance engagement and impact.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence diverse stakeholders.
Proven ability to lead and manage teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation and high performance.
Inclusive with the ability to unite diverse perspectives into a creative vision.
Ability to undertake travel as required between the UK and US to foster collaboration.
Proficiency in creative tools and software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Salary: $193k - $230k a year in Brooklyn, NY.
