The compensation package for this position includes an annual salary of $70,720, plus fully covered health insurance. Dental and vision insurance are not included.
The position starts with two weeks of paid vacation, one week of paid personal days, and 40 annual hours of sick leave. Allotted vacation days increase with each subsequent year of employment.
Description
Primary Information seeks a Managing Editor position for 32 hours per week on-site to assist with the organization’s publication of artists’ books. The position will receive an annual salary of $70,720 and fully-covered health insurance. Please note, the position’s salary is non-negotiable, as all of Primary Information staff members are paid a fixed rate of $42.50/hour in the upcoming FY. The position is anticipated to start in July 2025.
Reporting to and assisting the organization’s Executive Editor, the Managing Editor will oversee production and promotion of the organization’s publications, including:
-Working with the Executive Editor to develop and then manage a production schedule for each publication that takes into account the following deadlines: manuscript completion, colophon completion, cover design, publication design, and submission of print-ready files to printer
-Overseeing and managing overall communications with the various production contractors for each publication, including freelance Editors, Designers, Printers, and Copyeditors for each publication
-Carrying out proofreading
-Researching contact information and securing written permission agreements for image and other reproduction rights
-Working with artists and contract editors to develop promotional language for each publication
-Developing promotional content across platforms including social media, website, and email marketing
-Managing press communications, including press inquiries and work with PR consultants
