Assistant Professor, Communication and Media Studies, Tahlequah F99585
The Department of Communication and Media Studies at Northeastern State University seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Media Studies to begin in August 2025. Northeastern State University is a teaching-intensive institution. At Northeastern State, assistant professors are expected to fulfill the campus mission, vision, and values through excellence in teaching, research/scholarship, and service to the department and university. The faculty member will have the opportunity to teach graduate courses in public relations as well as required lower-level undergraduate courses.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Public Relations, or a related field.
Demonstrated strength in classroom teaching, academic advising, and inclusive pedagogy for a diverse student population.
Commitment to campus and professional service.
Evidence of well-developed professional communication skills.
Record of successful curriculum development.
Preferred Qualifications:
Academic leadership experience.
Industry experience in public relations, social media marketing, or event management.
Experience advising a PRSSA chapter.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include a 4/4 teaching load of undergraduate and graduate coursework.
Service contributions to the program, university, and community.
Advising and growing a program dedicated to a vibrant, diverse student population.
Interested applicants should submit a letter of interest, current curriculum vitae, evidence of teaching effectiveness (i.e., qualitative teaching evaluation data, exceptional classroom activity, etc.), teaching philosophy, transcripts, and the names of at least three individuals to contact for letters of recommendation. Review of applications will begin April 7, 2024, and will continue until the position is filled. The final offer of employment is contingent upon the successful completion of background and reference checks. Annual salary $55,430.00 with excellent benefits, including generous leave time. Anticipated hire date 8/1/2025. Applications will be accepted until 4/1/2025.
