Weekend Assistant, Library Services
Reporting to and under the direction of the 18th Ave Library Associate Manager, performs collection support and public services of a moderately to highly complex nature at the 18th Avenue Library. Performs circulation support at the 18th Ave Library, serves as backup for circulation desk operations and support for other operations as necessary, and may oversee library during portions of the weekend; troubleshoots basic technology problems, assist with security/building issues. All other duties as assigned.
Working hours will be 10 hour opening shifts between the hours of 7:00am – 5:00pm, Saturday and Sunday, with remaining hours arranged. May work mornings, weekdays, holidays and overtime as assigned; may be assigned special projects or tasks; may participate in library management including system wide committees with approval of supervisor. This position’s regular schedule is during defined weekend hours, but may vary for coverage of other 18th Ave. Library Circulation shifts or to provide staffing at other library locations as needed.
This is a temporary position lasting up to one year.
Required qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent certificate. 300 hours training in library practices and procedures (or three months of experience.) 200 hours training in use of computer terminal and/or audio-visual equipment (or two months experience); or equivalent. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. and push a cart weighting up to 80 lbs. with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Desired qualifications:
Two years library circulation experience, previous experience supervising staff and/or student employees, knowledge of Sierra, OhioLINK and Polaris or equivalent library systems. Excellent customer service skills in a diverse, high-volume environment.
