Position Summary
The Student Broadcasting Multimedia Journalist ( MMJ ) is responsible for writing, filming, and editing news stories for the live broadcast, website, and social media. The Student Broadcasting Multimedia Journalist reports to the Senior Instructor.
This is a student position open to current UIW students who may be hired through the Federal Work-Study Program or student employment.
Essential Functions
The MMJ is a Communication Arts Student Officer for UIWtv.
- Promote education while serving the university as a positive, reliable, and entertaining source of campus news, sports, and events.
- Manage the daily operations of UIWtv.
- Learn real-life production challenges and gain professional experience and receive hands-on experience for students with an interest in the production process and aesthetics of broadcast television.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Ability to shoot, write and edit News Packages and VO/ SOTS .
- Knowledge of PremierePro, camera equipment, and strong writing skills.
- Team player with a willingness to help mentor students.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA .
Full-time UIW Communication Arts student.
Required Work Experience
None.
Preferred Qualifications
- Successful completion of COMM 3395 TV Practicum or COMM 3353 Broadcast Journalism.
- Knowledge of TriCaster production switcher.
None.
Work Hours
Monday – Friday hours will vary, up to 20 hours per week.
