Joint Trench Designer
with a strong background in PG&E and other dry utility systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of joint trench design principles, PG&E standards, and underground utility coordination. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in utility design for complex development projects throughout the Bay Area. Key Responsibilities: Design joint trench utility systems (electric, gas, CATV, telecom) using AutoCAD or Civil 3D. Coordinate with PG&E, telecom providers, and other dry utility companies. Prepare and interpret technical drawings, trench sections, and construction plans. Ensure compliance with PG&E design standards and underground utility regulations. Utilize underground utility maps, perform utility research, and support utility locating as needed. Participate in project meetings with clients, agencies, and internal design teams. Assist with submittals, permit applications, and design revisions. Maintain strong documentation and tracking for multiple projects. Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in
joint trench design
or dry utility coordination. Strong working knowledge of
PG&E standards , including the Applicant Designer Qualification Program (ADQP). Proficiency in
AutoCAD , and utility-specific drafting workflows. Experience with dry utility systems (electric, gas, telecom, CATV). Understanding of
underground construction and trenching practices . Strong communication and collaboration skills. Detail-oriented and self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving. Knowledge of local, state, and utility-specific codes and standards. Preferred: PG&E-certified Applicant Designer or in process of certification. Experience working directly with PG&E utility planners and telecom consultants. Previous experience with dry utility design for land development projects in California.
