Provides substantive and qualitative Technical Publications effort for the DEVCOM Analysis Center (DAC)
Receives initial drafts of technical documents for review and editing to improve clarity, completeness and cogency by correcting grammar, punctuation, misstatements, spelling, and ambiguity in preparation of technical reports and camera-ready copies in conjunction with the author.
Edits and proofreads technical documents and open literature for presentation and publication to: ensure conciseness, proper verb tenses, correct terminology, definition of abbreviations, acronyms, and symbols, and appropriate figure and table captions; verifies all listed references are cited in text are listed on the reference page, and all references listed on the reference page are cited in the text; compares illustrations, photographs, tables, graphs, and charts with text to assure proper placement and layout.
Maintains report information such as report title, office symbol, authorâ??s information, and report status via hard copy and electronic database.
Ensures that the SF298 is complete and correct and that the abstract accurately presents the significance of the report being published. Ensures security markings are affixed as directed by AR380-5.
Organizes and updates files in network folders and forwards the final publication to the Defense Information Technical Center (DTIC).
Experience and Expertise Required:
Bachelor's degree in technical field with background in English, journalism, communications, or related field or  Bachelorâ??s in those related fields.
Knowledge of and experience with specialized terminology of a wide variety of scientific disciplines.
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word and the use of standardized templates for creating published documents.
Must have demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word and the use of standardized templates for creating published documents.
Three (3) years of specialized experience in technical writing or editing.
US citizenship
Ability to secure a security clearance
