Position Title: Laser Artist
Division: Theaters
Reports to: Laser Dome Supervisor
Pay Class: Part-Time 18 hrs/week, Non-Exempt
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Laser Artist will join Pacific Science Center’s theater team to design and perform laser shows to a variety of musical genres to a wide-ranging audience. This position works as a part of the theaters team that operates Pacific Science Center’s theater spaces. This position will also work with the Events team as a part of the production staff when events are held in the theater spaces.
- Perform live laser shows for our guests
- Assist with general maintenance of the laser equipment and the theater spaces.
- Work with the event staff to help support special events
- Speak to guests of all ages about how laser shows work and what it’s like to be a laser artist.
- Assist with educational demonstrations as needed in the laser dome with A/V as well as imagery on the dome to help explain scientific concepts
- Monitor the laser dome spaces to ensure the safety of patrons in accordance with federal regulations
- Help decide on new shows to be created and/or updating the content of existing shows.
- Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Basic knowledge of Audio/Visual gear
- Basic MS Office/Windows Proficiency
Skills:
- Excellent project management and ability to meet deadlines.
- Clear verbal and written communication.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Flexibility and the ability to remain calm and adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
Ability to:
- Work independently with limited supervision.
- Learn new software. Work daytime a majority of the time. Must have weekend availability. Weekday hours during the day will vary throughout the year. Work will take place on site at Pacific Science Center.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate’s Degree OR equivalent work experience in production
- Experience in customer service
- Experience with MS Office as well as other Windows based programs
Preferred
- Enthusiasm for a wide range of musical genres
- Experience with Audio or Visual gear, specifically in lighting.

Compensation
Pay is based on several factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and years of experience.
Starting Base Rate: $25.80/hr
