Job Title: Graphic Designer
Location: 4459 40th St SE, Kentwood, MI 49512, USA
Packaging Corporation of America (PCA), a Fortune 500 company, is seeking a Graphic Designer to join our team. We are a leading ideas and solutions company specializing in corrugated packaging and white paper products. Job Responsibilities:
- Obtain and prepare customer graphics files for production, assisting with initial design as needed.
- Provide color and print pre-press information for accurate costing and quoting.
- Collaborate with Sales and Customer Service to deliver proofs and mockups timely and coordinate delivery.
- Assist graphics specialists and design managers as required.
- Ensure safety and quality standards are maintained in all tasks.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Stay updated on new graphic materials, equipment, and software applications.
- Identify and suggest improvements for production efficiency, safety, and quality.
- Enter specifications into computer systems (Mac and/or PC-CIMs).
- Review and modify customer artwork to meet requirements and machine limitations.
- Coordinate ink requests, update CIMs with ink formulas, costs, and names, and manage related paperwork.
- Organize digital proofs and maintain digital print records.
- Assist PCA staff with graphic design, analysis, and specifications questions.
- Deliver printed samples as needed.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma with college-level studies or equivalent experience in package printing or prepress.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience with graphic software on Mac, including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat Pro, InDesign, Esko ArtPro, and Esko Artios CAD or equivalent.
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, algebra, and geometry.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately (to 1/32").
- Ability to follow written instructions and produce clear documentation.
- Ability to read and understand materials required by governmental bodies.
It is expected that a new hire will become proficient within 12 months of on-the-job experience.
Additional Tasks:
- Package and ship samples via FedEx as directed.
