News Anchor

WLNE-TV/ABC6 in downtown Providence, R.I., is looking for a news anchor. The candidate must have a passion for reporting and a strong news judgement. The perfect candidate has a compelling live presence and ability to connect with viewers.

This news anchor position will present breaking news and top stories during newscasts. This role requires working closely with producers to stack and write daily newscasts.

Responsibilities:

--Monitor, write, and update breaking news throughout newscasts.

--Assist in writing/editing scripts to ensure clarity and accuracy.

--Post daily on social media platforms, including the NOW Local News App, Facebook, X, and Instagram, describing the top local stories and big national and international headlines.

--Deliver news on camera in a professional manner.

--Ability to ad-lib with co-anchors.

--Shoot, write, edit news packages.

--Pitch original stories during daily editorial meetings.

--Build relationships and contacts in the area.

--Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

--Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines throughout the day.

--Organized and detailed-oriented.

--Strong collaboration and communications skills.

--Knowledge of a working newsroom.

--Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a similar field preferred.

--Previous on-air experience.

--A team player who is willing to jump in and assist when needed.
