General Description of Duties
This part-time, non-sworn position will assist in maintaining the social media platforms and mobile app of the Sheriff's Office to inform the community of public safety issues and outreach initiatives. The duties involve working with the Community and Media Relations unit and other units within the Agency, to create engaging video and photography content and foster positive community interactions. This position adheres to the agency's core values of honesty and integrity, accountability, teamwork, trust and respect, and commitment to excellence. To be successful in this position, the employee must demonstrate competency in time management skills, intermediate to advanced computer skills, general communication skills (both written and oral), inter-personal skills, customer service skills, and problem-solving skills. The employee will ensure all content follows the LCSO branding guidelines. Essential Duties
Manage day-to-day social media content, drafting and scheduling posts across all channels including, but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and Nextdoor. Contribute to overall content development including taking photographs, recording video, and creating graphics. Work with various employees within the Sheriff's Office to create videos and manage Facebook Live stream for social media. Create a constant flow of social media posts at Sheriff's Office ceremonies and community events. Monitor social media channels daily, respond to comments in a timely manner, and generate a sense of community and connection among followers. Support development and execution of social media campaigns. Stay informed on pertinent topics in local, national, and international news affecting county residents and law enforcement. Stays up to date on current social media trends and forecasts upcoming trends to create content capable of going "viral." Compile weekly reporting on growth and insights across all channels. Respond in a timely manner to emails from the public and personnel providing content for social media or questions regarding social posts. Supports other web and digital content strategies and other related duties as required. Eligibility Criteria
High school diploma or GED. Must have a degree or currently enrolled in a related field; OR Equivalent combination of education and/or experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as those listed above. Flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, and special events, as needed. Knowledge of creating and curating graphics and short videos/live feeds for social channels. Knowledge of basic social media and digital writing and design principles, techniques, and skills including the ability to design, layout, edit, and/or manipulate digital graphics and/or images. Knowledge of and ability to use software specific to the development and management of social media platforms. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, or Canva to create social media and digital graphics. Knowledge of traditional art techniques, basic digital photography, and video production, and use of traditional media. Knowledge of post-production techniques such as the use of editing software (Adobe Premiere or Canva) for final preparation for various multimedia. Necessary Special Requirements
Must be able to lift, push, carry or pull a minimum of 25 pounds independently.
