Graphic & Content Designer (Part-Time, Contract)
to design high-quality, visually engaging digital and print materials. This position will support the organization’s marketing, donor communications, and communications efforts by creating flyers, one-pagers, posters, social media graphics, carousels, icons, and email newsletter templates. The ideal candidate has a passion for mission-driven work and experience designing content that resonates with diverse, community-based audiences. Key Responsibilities Print Design : Design flyers, one-pagers, brochures, posters, advertisements, and collateral materials to communicate the impact of Peninsula Family Service brand and programs. Digital Content Design : Develop visually engaging graphics, escreens, icons, and banners for social media, email newsletters, and websites. Donor Communications : Create appealing and impactful visuals for donor-related materials, including appeals, thank-you letters, and stewardship pieces. Brand Consistency : Ensure all designs align with Peninsula Family Service’s brand identity, enhancing messaging clarity and visual impact. Develop and build out design templates in canva for marketing communications team. Social Media Assets : Create graphics and templates to support campaigns across social channels. Email Design : Design visually appealing email templates for newsletters, donor engagement, internal communications, and campaigns. Creative Innovation : Bring a dynamic, creative approach to designs that appeal to diverse audiences, including families, older adults, donors, and community partners. Required Skills and Qualifications Graphic Design Expertise : 5+ years of graphic design experience. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Canva and other graphic design tools. Ability to edit photos. Versatile design skills : Experience designing for both print and digital channels, including social media, email, infographics, donor communications, and event materials. Nonprofit design experience : Familiarity with nonprofit, community-based work and the ability to design content that reflects diverse, multicultural audiences. Creative and engaging visuals : A strong eye for detail, color, typography, photography, and layout to create vibrant, engaging, and dynamic content. Project Management : Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Collaboration and Adaptability : Work collaboratively with the marketing and communications team to ensure creative assets meet strategic goals. Bonus : Ability to develop simple social media videos, reels, and other types of video content. Contract Details Hours : Part-time contract. Estimated 15-20 hours per week for 3 – 6 month contract initially. Potential for longer-term contract. Compensation : Hourly rate based on experience. Rate $40-55 hourly Location : San Francisco Bay Area required. Required periodic onsite (2-3 times a month to downtown San Mateo office) for collaboration with marketing team.
