Job SummaryThis position provides customer service and administrative support for library operations
ResponsibilitiesCirculation Duties (34%) -
Provide knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful customer service to faculty, staff, students and the general public at the service desk.
Uses the integrated library system to check books/materials out and in; helps patrons locate specific circulating books or reserve items; collects fines and fees; and adds or updates patron records in the library system.
Issues library cards to community patrons and patrons from other schools; explains circulation policies and procedures to patrons.
Opens and closes the library during specified hours, and secure library equipment.
Sorts and shelves library materials and assist with shelf maintenance as needed.
Technology Assistance (33%) -
Assists in the maintenance and/or troubleshooting of library and makerspace equipment: including telephones, copiers, scanners, printers, computer software, etc.
Other Duties (33%) -
Processes faculty/staff material order request forms; researches, orders, receives and processes items.
Processes faculty reserve requests; scans and uploads electronic reserve materials.
Processes interlibrary loan requests from internal and external customers.
Enters cataloging information into computerized database.
Gathers statistical data and collates it into a report.
Maintains library accounts with vendors.
Checks in periodicals.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Educational Qualifications
College level research experience or bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
Preferred Experience
2-3 years general work experience in a school or library environment or current enrollment in an MLS/MLIS program
Experience using GALILEO
Experience with an academic library setting
Knowledge of library operations and procedures
Knowledge of university policies and procedures
Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs
Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public
Skill in oral and written communication
Skill in providing quality customer services
