Marketing & Public Relations Coordinator
The Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) is a 501(c)3 not for profit corporation which serves as an auxiliary of the California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) with approximately 15,000 students. CSUDH is one of 23 campuses in the California State University system. The campus is an urban, comprehensive public university serving the extended South Bay area of the Los Angeles basin. The campus attracts students who represent the cultural and ethnic diversity of the area. As the student government organization, the ASI represents the concerns of the students. Through their membership representation on various University committees and groups, the ASI has a substantial influence on many important decisions. The ASI also provides programs and services to the student body.
Position Description
The Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator is responsible for the development of ASI marketing and public relations efforts; including the assessment of organization outreach. Reporting to the Associate Director, the Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator will ensure that ASI overall image is consistent with the mission of ASI in social media, print and digital design, website management and all other marketing strategies. This position supervises and trains student Program Assistants, Interns and Volunteers. Duties will include supporting and advising the Board of Directors and other ASI Commissions in order to develop, coordinate, assist and facilitate the brand of ASI materials, projects, logos and digital presence.
Description of Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and/or provide support for all ASI public relations and marketing campaigns; including ASI Child Development Center and KDHR Radio Station.
- Lead the development, execution and regular maintenance of the ASI website
- Supervise and advise in implementation of graphic design, photography/videography, social media and promotional merchandise and materials
- Directly supervises student Graphics Designer and Social Media Assistants
- Under the direction of the Associate Director, will develop and conduct ongoing assessments of ASI
sponsored programs, services and public interactions - Support advertising collateral of the KDHR radio station and ASI Child Development Center
- Oversee professional development and on-going management of Marketing/Design Intern program
- Co-Advise the Elections Commission and the students elected/appointed to lead the Elections
Commission - Oversee financial planning and management for all marketing/public relations and assessment budgets
- Interacts with staff, customers and student organizations to provide support and quality service; including New Student Orientation requests
- Oversee promotion and dissemination of annual calendar and ASI promotional materials for ASI events, campaigns and advocacy work; including KDHR and Child Development Center advertising services
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Three years professional experience in communications, digital media and web-based skills;
- Some experience in team management and development
- Willingness to work with an ethnically diverse and culturally pluralistic student body, staff and
administration
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience and knowledge applying marketing theories and concepts into effective communication and media campaigns
- Experience and knowledge with website design and/or development
- Some ability to apply appropriate statistical/technical methods to assessments
- A record of demonstrated effectiveness in student development programs in a multicultural environment
- Training and experience in student leadership and group dynamics
- Five years experience of increasing responsibility and leadership in a related area (e.g., public relations, advertising, stakeholder assessment, etc.)
Conditions of Employment
Rate: $24.04/hr – $27.00/hr
Workweek Class: Non-Exempt
Work Schedule: 5/40

This position is employed by the Associated Students, Inc. and is subject to related personnel policies and procedures. This position serves at will and does not receive tenure or permanency. In accordance with CSU policy, a background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the ASI. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current ASI employees who apply for the position.
